Community to us means creating space for others to feel a sense of belonging, to garner mutual support, and to deepen interpersonal connections to the people around you. In founding our nonprofits, community was the basis for our desire to serve the youth in our respective cities.

The Harriett Wright-French Foundation hosted its 2nd Back to School Rally, Saturday, July 27th at 5:30PM CST. Bringing the the movie “Space Jam”, snacks, and MORE, we created an experience as students prepared to return for a successful school year. We were able to successfully give away 175 backpacks, along with other giveaways and prizes
*Donations for supplies and backpacks were raised using the GoFundMe link on the homepage and via cash app (@HWFFFoundation).

In partnership with Rising Star Baptist Church CARES Ministry, we successfully collected items for our CARES Comfort Drive and donated them to local shelters in the Greater Birmingham area. See here the donation list.
Monetary donations were raised via CashApp ($HWFFoundation) for additional items.

We collected items for our Toys for Tots drive! All donations went to local shelters in the Greater Birmingham area. Donations were taken to Rising Star Baptist Church (1320 2nd Ave W Birmingham, AL 35208).

The Harriett Wright-French Foundation hosted its first Bay Area Field Day. Our goal for this event was to promote mental and physical health to encourage youth and teens of ALL AGES to live healthier and active lifestyles which we did successfully. A portion of the event was dedicated to mental health awareness from mental health advocates and athletes.

We are proud to introduce one of our 2021 HWFF service scholarship recipients - Anyah Means. She attends The University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Anyah received $2000 in donations towards her continued education at The Unoversity of Alabama at Birmingham.
